Great day of sports tonight. Two playoff baseball games, a NFL game, and a couple fun college football games. The Yankees play today and have dug a 3-0 hole. An extra day off due to the rain gives the Yankees an extra time to decide who they will be benching. Arod and Granderson must be really motivated. I dont see how the Yankees get off the mat in this one. Lets play the tigers and lay the run line. Tim Lincecum will get the start for the San Francisco Giants in the second game of the doubleheader. At this point Tim has pitched better but to put the series on him in this spot is tough. St.Louis will be the play for me. The NFL game tonight is tough. I expect San Francisco to respond after getting outclassed by the Giants. Seattle also comes off a huge win, which is usually a perfect storm for a easy 49ers win. Seven points is alot in the NFL and i dont want to lay that many. Its either taking 7 or pass in this one. The last and most fun game of the night takes place in Arizona.  The home dog on Thursday night is dangerous. The Sun Devils are playing above expectations and this is the first true road test for the Ducks. The number is down to 8 and the value is gone for ASU. Lets lay the 8 points with the Ducks and watch D’Anthony Thomas run wild.

College football pick USC Trojans @ University of Washington Huskies. Matt Barkley and USC visit old coach Pete Carroll up in Seattle. Expect a big effort from Barkley playing in front of his old coach in an NFL stadium. Washington has struggled most of the season on both sides of the ball. USC really impressed me last week beating Utah. They established the run and then Barkley went to work. This formula if they can stick to it will give USC a shot to get back to into the National Championship hunt.

College football pick Fresno State @ Boise State. David Carr’s little brother is obsessed with beating the Boise State Broncos. Fresno State quietly is a very good team on both sides of the ball. The Bulldog defense leads the nation in interceptions and are top 20 running the ball. Boise State played great last week scoring 50 points vs Southern Miss but Conference USA is primarily an offensive league and still dont have a very good offense. Expect a lower scoring game and the Fresno State Bulldogs to be right there in the end. Lets take the 7 points and Fresno State in this one . -DannyZ

Got a couple MLB baseball picks for today. First, the early game. The Baltimore Orioles are the only side in this one. I cannot lay -200 with the Yankees when they cannot score. The Orioles have all the momentum and are a live dog. The the second game lets make a play on the Washington Nationals -130. Wainwright is good but no Chris Carpenter and Gio Gonzalez is a horse. The Washington Nationals have the momentum and lets ride it. -DannyZ

A Bay Area Parlay cashed as projected by DannyZ. The Oakland A’s and the San Francisco Giants get it done. I hope everyone scored.

I like both teams from the Bay Area. First lets make a play on the San Francisco Giants as the underdog. Elimination games are always the toughest games and Ryan Vogelsong has been great all year for the Giants. Homer Bailey has been strong down the stretch but against good teams he is more average than great. I also like the Oakland A’s at home versus a Detroit Tigers team that has been average on the road this season. Lefty Brett Anderson is their ace and expect an inspired effort at home tonight for a team that plays great in the Coliseum. A virtual Bay Area parlay.

NFL Picks for Week 5

Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs

My first pick is going to the Kansas City Chiefs + 6.5 points. Yes, i know that they have looked horrible but the Ravens have played a string of tough games and now have to travel to KC with a date at home vs America’s team the Dallas Cowboys. The Ravens defense is still a question mark to me and can give up alot of points. KC is a live dog here and may win this game on the money line.

Green Bay Packers vs Indianapolis Colts

Got another live dog for you. The Indianapolis Colts are a play. Lets win one for the Coach. Coach Chuck Pagano will not be on the sidelines and i expect an emotional lift for the Colts. The Packers were lucky to beat the Saints and will be going into a tough situation without one of their best plays WR Greg Jennings. I’ll take the underdog and the +7 points.

Tennesee Titans vs Minnesotta Vikings

Matt Hasselback gets the start for the Titans and i like them in this spot. The Vikings have been playing way over their heads and here is the spot for a let down. The Titans are a better team than they have showed so far this season. They have played the toughest schedule so far having played the Patriots, @ SD, Detriot and @ Houston.

Seattle Seahawks vs Carolina Panthers

Carolina gave a huge effort vs the Falcons last week but it was not enough in the end. Seattle is a tough match up for anyone with such a physical defense. I expect the running oppurtunies for Cam be much tougher this week. I also envision a home coming for QB Russell Wilson have played much of his college career at NC State. Lets take the points and the dog on the road in this one.
